How (Un)Helpful are the Makers?

    If it's got wheels and fast-moving parts, it will eventually need help. The dealer you bought it from may be far off, closed down, or non-existent if you got it used. Even if you bought it new yesterday from your brother-in-law dealer across the street, it still depends on the mechanic. Who may have never worked on that model before. Or who looks for the spark plugs in your diesel.

    So you turn to the manufacturer. Some don't have email contact, won't answer, or just refer you to your dealer. But others will turn it over to an engineer who'll walk you through what to do.

    So I'd like to ask if you've ever sought help from the maker. How did it go?
