We have been installing a lot of Hunter swing joints on rotor replacements. I noticed today that regardless of whether I use the 1/2" size or the 3/4" ones the size of the funny pipe is the same. Those opening are pretty darn small, looks less than 1/2", and wouldn't this restrict water flow? Are there other alternatives?

Flow loss over 1' is not an issue.

I don't upsize swing joints until I get up to 1" inlet heads.

    Ditto, nothing to worry about.

It's not a big deal, but in low flow situations, it could affect the performance.
I go to a solid swing joint if I'm asking for more than 6 gpm. You lose 2 psi
    with a flexible swing joint.
