    Hi everyone -
Over the weekend my huskey riding mower 42" cut quit mowing with the middle blade. I put the mower up on jacks and checked the blade. It spins free of the pulley. So something broke inside. I have not had a chance to take it apart, but was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and what I should be lookig for.

    Thanks
    Chris  :waving:

What is model number on the mower?

usually this kind of thing is pretty simple...

The mower is at my country place so I am not sure of the model # - The engine size is 24 horse. :blob3:

The model number would be really better to have. But since it is not where you are currently, we can guess at things.

i would have to say that since the center blade is the one not turning and the others are, then i would first have to guess at something like a pulley being spun (not catching the shaft) or the blade not being there. this is assuming that the blades are belt driven. if they are shaft driven, that is a completely different monster. i will do a little more looking and see what i can come up with.
how old is the machine? guestimate an age for me.

Thanks for taking the time to help. Yes it is belt driven and the mower is about a year and a half old. I turn the blade and if I hold the pulley I can spin the blade without the pulley moving.

    Thanks

If this unit is only 1 1/2 years old you have a 2 year parts & labor warranty,Look in your owners manual and there will be a 1-800 number you can call to get the nearest warranty service center in your area.
If you provide proof of purchase and providing the center blade is not bent from hitting something they will install a complete assembly for free.
BTW MTD built this unit and Huskee put there name on it.

Depending on the unit, it could also be an Electrolux made mower.

but the warranty information is correct.. if it has a 2 year warranty.. some (i've noticed lately) are coming with only a year.

It probably does have a warrenty - but by the time I load it at my country place and bring it in and wait two week, I could of fixed it and moved on. I am really losing patience as I get older. Does anyone know of any good MTD part sites on the web?

    Thanks Chris
