Husqvarna 455 Rancher & Stihl MS 025 Chainsaws

Discussion in 'Stolen Equipment' started by Pennington Lawncare, Dec 9, 2008.

  1. I purchased a Husqvarna 455 Rancher on 9/17/08 from Tractor Supply Company and a Stihl MS 025 on 2/28/95 from my local Ace Hardware and both were stolen sometime between 11/22/08 and 12/4/08 from my home in Columbia, TN. The Serial number of the Husqvarna is 965 03 02-00 08 0800323 which I found on a sticker on the box which I still had since it was only a couple months old. Possibly only the end of the Husky number is the actual Serial #. The Serial number of the Stihl is 230106635 and I actually got that number by e-mailing Stihl to see if they had my purchase of that saw on record and luckily they did. So it's worth an e-mail to Stihl if you don't know the Serial # of a piece of their equipment.

You may actually have better luck recovering the older equipment as the serial numbers were attached in a more permanent manner years ago. Most serial numbers today are decals. I think they learn to pull those off in Pawnshop 101.

Report the STIHL to your dealership and to the PD. There's a program with STIHL dealers that if it gets brought in for service they enter the s/n and if it comes up as stolen you might get the item back.

  4. I turned in both of the saw's serial numbers to Stihl and Husqvarna and they are supposed to be on their stolen watch list. thanks
