    The machine-2006 52 inch hustler super mini z 450hrs model 927-533,kohler 27h.p. engine model cv740.

    Location-colorado 6000ft.

The scenario-Last winter when I put the machine away I drained all gas per manual instructions. This spring put fresh gas in and tried to start machine, initially it started cranking for 10-15 seconds and almost turned over. Gave it a break, turned the key again and all I got was a strong"click". New plugs, new battery. Still a "click". Pulled the started out and tested it. It seems fine. Put it back in, still a "click". Is it possible that I trashed the starter and it works when I test it out of the machine, but won't work under load when it's reconnected? Any other advice on what the root of the problem would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I've had even a hint of a problem with this machine.- Thanks-Jeff

    Try jump starting it.

Pull the sparkplugs, turn it over for a few seconds without compression--this should clear out anything in the cylinder and allow the starter to work without load, spray carb cleaner in plug holes, install plugs and see if it will start.

Pulled the starter out again took a closer looks tested it, looks like the Solenoid is bad.
