Mine snapped and came lose from lever, was still under warranty. From my understand gathered from the dealer, it is a issue on them, if Hustler wants to admit it or not. Mine has been fine since it was replaced.

I do not know...I am planning on being on the dealer this week at some point...I will ask and try to remember to let you know including the part number they replaced it with, no issues with the new one so far either way. PM me if you have not heard from me by Friday afternoon

I went though a few cables on my older SZ with the 31. Went through 3 of them in a few weeks.
When fitting the cable, make sure its in the upper slot in the squarish plate/clamp that holds the outer sheath, on the engine end. Otherwise the cable itself gets out of alignment causing tension. I dont know the names of the do-dads so hope you understand what I mean.

Its also a good idea to spray some lube on the cable, but not on the throttle lever itself. Keep it well away from that.

The Throttle cable was a running change. Units made after 02/12 had a throttle cable #603409 and knob 603523. These are a little heavier and should solve your issues.
