Hey, we are new to the industry and are purchasing a couple of mowers. Both of them are going to be 60 inch. What are your thoughts on these, looking for advice!
2004 Scag Turf Tiger 27hp L/C Kawasaki 61" advantage deck for $8500.00 ea
2005 Scag Wildcat 27hp Kohler 61" advantage deck for $7,900.00 ea
    2005 Hustler Z 24 hp Honda with 60" deck for $8100.00 each

Just wondering which you guys think is the best all around machine? Why would we go with the Turf Tiger over the other 2 etcetera.
All help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
  2. Just pick one you can't go wrong with either one.

From the 3 you have listed I think the turf tiger would be the best. Another member on here tested wildcat the other day and it is made on a smaller frame and he was experiencing some scalping with a 61'' deck. Im not sure 24hp is going to be enuff motor and a 60'' deck on the Hustler, just my thoughts and Im open to others

I priced a 60" TORO Z580 w/27HP L/C kawi and got a price of 9.5k. Priced a 60" TORO Z580 w/28HP Kohler EFI and got a price of 9.3k. Also interested in the triple bagger and was told 1.9k installed for either. TORO is offering no payments, no interest until JAN '06.

We also are looking into a SCAG Turf Tiger with either the 27HP kawi L/C or the 29HP kawi with DFI. Went to get prices this past Wednesday but got hit with a freak snow/ice storm.

IMO, the price of your turf tiger seems very reasonable. I was expecting in the 5 figures for a turf tiger with over 25 horse. Curious...is your dealer giving you a deal cause your buying multiple mowers?

The dealer is coming down from list of $9300 to $8500 because they are new 04's. Also thinking of getting a triple bagger collection system instead of the clamshell unit. Any thoughts on that?
Any and all input is very helpful.

Oh, that explains it. I got offered a '04 left over for 8500. About 1k less. Makes sense.

As far as baggers, I don't have any experience...but...the clamshell is good if you leave the bagged clippings at the jobsite. However, if you hall them away and need to place them into carryall barrels, pickup bed, dump insert, whatever then w/ the clamshell you would have dump the clippings then shovel them into whatever you are removing them in then you'd have to clean up that mess. Just seems easier w/ softbaggers to empty the bag...not much of a mess to cleanup. Just an observation.

I just purchased a new 2004 Scag cub 52" w/ honda 24hp which is fine for this size machine. However, I'd probably go with the larger 27 hp using a 61" deck along with the larger frame. For a few hundred more, its clear the new 04 tiger is the best buy. There is no measurable difference between the 04 & 05 other than the added costs in the thousands. Good Luck

8100 is way too much for a regular Hustler Z, an 05 SuperZ w/27 kohler was quoted at 8200 for me last week. I would look into the SuperZ compared to the Scags, being in Wisconsin I'm not sure that you need the L/C

I'm sorry, the price is $7899 each for the Hustler Z's.
