I own a Huskee 35 ton log splitter. The manual is silent on the frequency of hydro fluid change. The guy at Tractor Supply advised as long as the fluid is clear and doesnt smell burnt, it's o.k.. Ideas?

We change fluid in our rental unit at 200 hrs. and it's not a box store homeowner unit, I wouldn't go much more than that.

If I remember correctly 100 hours for a Ztr, I don't see why things should be that different from one machine to the next, hydraulics is hydraulics... And it could be 200, no argument, I think somewhere in there lies your answer.

On the notes of waiting until it smells burnt, I'm not sure what to say, but just change it per schedule, however it smells.

500 hrs. is a closer number on a ZTR.....
