I have a snapper z-rider. The dealer says to use SAE30 non-detergent motor oil. Is there a difference between hydraulic SAE30 oil and SAE30 non-detergent motor oil? Or are they basically the same? I am running the non-detergent motor oil, am I running the wrong oil or not?

    Thanks

I never heard of running ND30 in a hydro. system before, All systems I've been around always ran high detergent 20w-50 engine oil. Hydro Gear States to run 20w-50 in their hydro. pumps anything else could cause pre-mature seal failures.
If you have any doubts about the proper oil you can contact Hydro Gear directly here ; http://www.hydro-gear.com/Contact/

Just be sure to take it back to the dealer that said that to ya when you have a engine problem, non detergent oil = a slimy mess for internals.
