    I have heard people on this site refer to hydro, what it it??? I am not too familiar with everything there is to know about ztr's yet, tell me about them!

    Hydro machines use hydrolic pumps to drive the tires, instead of belt driven. They allow you to do a true Zero turn, as you can have one wheel going backwards in the turn, thus creating the zero turn. Hydros are generally quicker, more responsive, last longer, and are just all around a better machine than the belt driven ones. More $$$ too, but well worth it.

    Almost all ZTR's are "hydro".

    A non hydro would usually be a Belt driven or Gear driven walkbehind.
