Purchased a 1 year old Big Tex dump trailer this winter and used it for the first time last week. Besides the battery being dead, while lowering the bed hyro fluid began to overflow the tank - what caused this and what type of hyro fluid should I use to refill the tank.

    Thanks

I don't have a big tex trailer but their probably mostly the same. Mine takes transmission fluid (dextron/mercronII )and it may have been overfilled in the resevoir. Make sure you run a wire from the truck to keep the battery charged also.

You could be getting air in the system somehow and it is causing fluid to overflow out the tank. Check to make sure all the hoses are connected firmly and that the filter is tight.

I have found if you slowly lower the dump bed it will elevate the problem.
