Tel me about it. Damn self employment tax. I just finished up my taxes today and foud out how much I owe. It really wasn't too bad, as I made payments throughout the year.

You forgot tax it when you die!

Of any of the taxes, I remain flabbergasted why the government thinks they need a huge percentage, often as much as 50% of what is left in an estate. This is such a huge problem for those with larger estates, being able to pass down assets. Yes, somebody will say, "it only happens to a few," or, "only because the estate was not planned properly," and other such excuses. Hogwash. If I earn it, save it, why can't I pass it down to heirs without phony manipulations to avoid the tax? This is a deterrent from passing wealth to generation to generation, and should be stricken. Why is it even a thought for Congress to consider eliminating the phase-out schedule? Get rid of the death tax!
