    Much lighter? Really? Care to share that huge weight difference with us? I have both. 3 Kombis and one dedicated edger and trimmer.

    With the exception of the lightweight aluminum coupler they handle the same...

    The KM130 with line trimmer is

    10.1 lb for head and 2.6 lb for trimmer, the Fs130r is 13.1 lb.

    I had tried out some husky today. The combi system was noticeably heavier than just the trimmer.

    I have been using dedicated units all the time. When I got my Echo multi-tool I could defiantly feel the extra weight so I will stick to dedicated units and use the multi-unit as a back-up and to get the pole-saw and hedge trimming attachment. When you work all day long every ounce of energy you can save is very important when the day is done.

    I guess you think I'm a part timer? I happen to have a 150 unit Townhome community and a 50 unit business park I maintain with miles of edging...Since we work all day we buy NEW units.

    You are comparing Echo to Stihl...lemme guess...2 strokes? Cause I stated the weight of both Stihl units...

    The Stihl will be heavier than most other brands period...4 stroke vs 2.

    I also tried out an echo dedicated unit. It seemed pretty light, but also strong & well made. However, it was only a 230. I think I'm going to go with the STIHL FS 70!

    That is just it some guys have employees and some are small Solo guys. Either way you have to decide for your-self what will work for you. The original poster said he was only 15 years old and had only 7 accounts. To me he might be like me and want some-thing light like either the echo srm225 or srm230 they both will last several years with only one guy operating it. The Echo edger does just fine as well. I have had the same trimmer and edger for the 6 years (still using them) I have been in business doing just 40 yards a week and that's not bad for the money I have in them. You may be speaking from a lot more experience but He seems to have limited funds and just wants some advice on whether those units pan out for a solo guy. Thing is if that where to be his only unit what happens when it takes a dump on him. If one of my quits I go to the multi tool and finish the day. I'll pick up another trimmer/edger if it is unfix-able new the next day. They are not outrageously priced anyway. This way the multi-tool will last and when I can get all the other attachments I want for it.

    10.1 + 2.6 = 12.7
    There's no way that the KM130R with straight trimmer weighs LESS than an FS130R.

    Ok, here are the REAL numbers from stihlusa.com

    FS130R = 12.3 lbs

    KM130R Powerhead = 10.1 lbs
    FS-KM Straight shaft trimmer attachment = 2.6 lbs
    --------------------------------------------------
    KM130R with straight shaft trimmer = 12.7 lbs

    So the difference is just over 6 ounces. That's WELL less than the difference between a full and a 3/4 full gas tank!

    Now, if you're comparing against the lightweight dedicated trimmer FS100RX, that's a different story.
    FS100RX = 10.8lbs
    KM110+straight trimmer = 12.5 lbs
