I got in with a management company and one of their properties needs a substantial amount of mulch and plants, they basically said get it done and bill us, the price on material is out of my companies budget, would I look like an idiot asking for deposit? I feel like a boy trying to do a mans job on this one.

Ask for a material check, Then a labor check.

There is nothing wrong with asking for a materials deposit, we've done it afew times. It is standard practice with contractors. Just to be safe spell it out in the bid and contract.

get a work order signed and a po# at the very lease unless it's already in your contract.
