Is this my fault or the guy that installed the irrigation?

    Pics?

Was the valve in a box with no cover?

There was a cover. But there are a lot of valves in the lawn that get ran over. This one seemed to be a lot shallower.

Were you mowing with a 1200 lb ZTR?

Felt like the pipe was cracked going into the valve.

It was probably a shallow valve box set right on top of the PVC pipe. Enough weight presses the box down on the pipe.

The question is, do you care to vet these properties before you take them on? Some of them are bound to have installs that aren't going to be able to take great weight on the valve boxes.

No right answer to this question, both sides can be argued equally. Unfortunately, it's the lawn guy that usually ends up flipping the bill, right or wrong.

    Winner winner chicken dinner.

Makes no difference if it were one inch below ground, don't run over the boxes. Where's the sprinkler buddy? I've got some orange tires to trade him.
