Mine are 12 years old, I don't really want to put any money into them, and I don't think their going to make them anymore. I don't really want to spend 600$ for a Shindawia set but may have too.

Either Astron or TMC with a Kawasaki motor on them. I'm not sure if either are very popular or even available outside of California. The Astron is almost identical to the Kawasaki hedge trimmer. We have been running them for the last 20 years and they are great machines.

How does someone get 20 years out of any kind of OPE?

Not the same pieces of equipment for 20 years. We've been using TMC and Astron hedge trimmers for about 20 years now. We're lucky if we get 4 years out of a piece of small equipment like that with daily use in commercial maintenance.

Ahh. I understand, I misinterpreted what you wrote.....

We as a rule get between 3-5 years out of 2 cycle equipment.....depending on what it is, some of our stuff that isn't used often (ie our Stihl drill) lasts a bit longer than that.....
