    Hey guys,
I observed someone driving from mailbox to mailbox having the passenger wedge flyers anywhere they could on the outside of the mailbox. Nothing went IN the mailbox, but on the outside. From what I understood this is illegal. I almost told them, but thought they must know.
    This is in Maryland.
I searched here and found some people saying it is illegal, but want to know more. I should go ask the police and the post office. This is atleast twice as fast if it is legal.
    Thanks

Anything stuck to or in a mailbox is against the law. This would be taken up with your post master. They have there own investigations into it.

Only if its not owned by a newspaper company. They will call you!
The newspaper boxes under a mailbox is ok

While I was putting flyers out a mailman approached me and said as long as you put the flyer on the outside of the box you will ok, stick it behind the red flag, gag between box and post, openings in the post, brackets.

Stick it to the base of the mailbox, it's not technically the mailBOX

Would you want anyone besides the mail carrier touching your mailbox? A lot of mail theft goes on around here.
