Well this is my first post. Been in the biz along time and have my own company but I am currently shopping for a new 410 and a Zahn to replace a aging 400SX and a great little 255. The 255 is worth keeping to me because the used market gives you pretty much nothing for them and mine is in good condition. The prices on a Zahn with a puller and trencher and a new 410 that I got seem WAY high especially since the economy is what it is right now. I was wondering is some of you are willing to share what they cost you to purchase. I am looking at a Zahn with a trencher attachment and a plow attachment and am very interested because of the versatility down the road and the 410 would be a clear choice for replacing my 400 (with a trencher, boring unit and plow). Thanks for any help ... I just found this site and I plan on using it ... what a great place!

How many hours on the 400sx? You get a price on an overhaul of it?

Yah its looking like about 5-8K for an overhaul and 1200 hours on it. I know ... overhaul and move on... that was my thought anyway since it would be my most economical option.

Needs: chain, tires (short $), shaker box rebuild, boom for chain (new employee and big rocks dont mix), drive cogs for chain, new fluids, hydraulic hoses (just a few I have not replaced yet), new radiator mounts, some metal work (misaligned holes ect.) new fluids in drive axels ect., hydraulic controls "weep" by so it needs to be rebuilt, new belt and a pump rebuild would be wise at this point. Lister runs great and smokes very little. I am sure the machine is worth putting money into as it is solid and what not but Ill have the estimate Thursday or Friday for the final cost. Only problem is the machine is such a PITA to work on .... I wish Burkeen was still around! B-30 all the way!

Tool carrier(low), trencher, plow and and boring unit ... 4wd 30 series was over 33K!!!! no trailer, w/ weights. OUCH! 410 same set up 38K ... I think they are a little proud of these things. Trade ins were so little I could sell it myself for more, I dont think they want them at all. I am going to price the Vermeer but I HATE the controls.

I lived in Bangor once, their accent was so thick I might as well been in Lower
    Slobovia. Great lobster, though!
