I have a 14 hp twin briggs. There is a stud with a nut on the side of the engine (starter side) that is insulated from the engine. It will not ohm out to the block. Is this the kill stud for the engine. In other words, if I run a wire from it to a toggle switch to kill the engine will it work. If not how do I kill the engine. It is wired to a toggle and push button and I can't shot it off without choking it out.

If it is the shut off connection, there should be two wires to this stud:

    1. The one you already have that goes to the kill switch

    2. A wire from the coil to this stud

If the coil wire is missing, maybe it got cut off or it is buried under the recoil cover somewhere, but then it would tend to short accidentally and the engine wouldn't run.
