When I started my mowing business three years ago, my insurance agent advised me that all I needed was a $300,000 policy if I was just going to mow. However, Ive noticed several posts talking about 1million liability. Do I need to up my coverage?

Sometimes a 1mm/2mm policy is required by the companies or owners of housing projects, retirements homes, City land, etc. I wouldnt go less than a 1mm/2mm policy period. Negligence is a big word for a reason. A worker or operator could be on pain meds from an injury or have a couple beers at lunch and hit a rock with a mower that in turns clocks someone in the head which could erase a business. 300K might not last long when dealing with Head trauma, Brain damage, Coma, Helicopter ride, etc. If a court finds that there was Negligence involved they can come after everything you have. Crap like this happens somewhere every day.
