Has anyone here purchased any heavy equipment from IPs auctions?
I have bought a skid steer trailer and skid steer tires. I have sold two FFC Preparators. It is a pretty painless process.
ironplanet is the ebay of heavy machinery? I'll have to check it out.
Yeah, pretty much auction stuff. I guess you can get cheap equipment from them. Downside? Can't run the machines prior to purchase. They say it's certified, but it would still bother me. Our Cat dealer liquidates some of their rental stock for new equipment every year, most of which don't have over 1,500 hours and they sell for CHEAP. We almost bought a rental 304.5 with 800 hours for about $33K, that would have been a steal. But the smaller equipment takes a huge bashing whereas the larger stuff is operated by people who actually have a clue and the larger machines are running autolube systems so they actually get greased when they're out. If you're looking for Cat, give your dealer a call. I know ours has some pretty decent deals going on when they start replacing their rental fleet.
