I have a customer who would like an area about 10x10 done in flagstone. It's kind of a step down area from their deck. The concern is that there are a few irrigation lines buried beneath. Should they be relocated before base installation? My thoughts are yes but wanted to see what others think. We're only in the planning stages so nothing is dug up yet.

I would try to relocate the irrigation lines for ease of repair later on if need be. If the lines are fairly old you risk damaging them during base compaction.

or take lines up and run them through schedule 40 sleeves, under the patio

I second running them through a conduit. JUST TODAY... had a new front walkway finished... homeowner calls "Excuse me Mr... we have water gushing from underneath the walkway when the irrigation is on" So of course I am thinking the worst... The guys drove a ede restraint spike right through a line. (So I should take my own advice)
