My distributor has a number of 23hp Vanguard/61" Tiger Cubs on promo at a steep discount. I should be able to sell them well under $7000. Is 23hp enough for the Cub? I would think so, considering you can get a Super Z with the 24hp Honda, which has 21cc pumps, compared to the Cub's 10cc pumps. Thoughts?

All the Scag dealers are selling those mowers cheap because they are now discontinued.

I guess it will get the job done, I was miserable with a Lazer 23 Kohler 60" deck though.

I had choice of that engine or 25hp Kohler on the Tiger cut 61" in Feb under $7K...scag kept insisting that that engine would perform just like the Kohler. I had experience with Kohler so went with it. I am pretty happy with the power on the 25hp forsouther grasses.

My dist has a bunch of them also but they are priced to where I have to sell the 52 with the 23 vanguard for 7299 and if i got the 61's i'd have to sell them for 7599 regardless of how many I buy because of the bracketing structure.

I wouldn't. Not enough power IMO. Tall thick stuff I get some bogging and I've got a 28HP Kawi. I just think 23 is too little unless you're cutting very little height.
