Thanks in advance for the replies and hurry!!
Since the deal on the Scag fell through.
    I found a 2003 MTD 52" hydro with 100 hrs(supposedly) walk behind for $2000.00
I has the Briggs Van Guard.w/elect.start
I did the search thing and mostly came up with they are the same as the Lesco and Cub Cadet
Does the MTD use the same componets/
    Doug

Also forgot to add that this MTD is red in color(what year did the colors change)
And how can I determine the year to be sure it is a 2003?
also has a sulky and is a fixed deck

D, two g for a 52" hydro machine of any type with 100hrs is probly a good deal.. Maybe too good?? Does the hr meter look newer than the wear on the rest of the machine?? check it over well, if it's on the up n' up, I'd grab it...

its older than a 2003. the color change happened in 2001 or 2002 I believe.

But for a hydro that is a great price, for a belt I would try to get around $1800.
Heck I just got a 48" hydro cub last summer and it was $3,200

check the oil (color and dirty), check the air filter (tells you whether someone maintained it), check the bushings in front castors for wear, ask for a maintenance log of the machine, make sure that it really only has 100 hours, because people can change those meters (I had to do it on my 52" once before, brand new hours all over again), check the spindles, try the cut to make sure no spindles are bent, check belts (if they are wore try to talk him down in price),

    Can't think of anything else

I notice a couple of things in that picture that worries me, why the change in the air filter cover (or is it just a sticker) second of all I know its electric start, but I don't see a pull rope anywhere:p
