Is it too late to aerate/overseed in NJ?

    A frost probably won't do too much to it except slow it down. A very hard freeze could hurt if it catches it just at the wrong time. Most likely it would just sit there until we get Indian Summer and then it would germinate. Otherwise it would come up in the Spring, probably early enough you could still apply a pre-emergent crabgrass treatment.

    Just do it. It should be fine. You won't be putting down your Pre that early anyway, if it came to it not sprouting until spring. I've seeded in November and December always comes up sooner or later.

    Alright, the consensus seems to be that I should overseed, so that's what I'll do. My property is only one-third of an acre, and a lot of that is taken up by the driveway, house, patio, pool, shed, etc., so I shouldn't need that much seed anyway.

    We are still doing seeding at this point and will probably be doing them until November. No concerns as far as being too late. We arent to far from you.
