Is the FH 580v KAW engine on the Phazer a KAI ?
The 19 hp Kaw on the Phazer is not a KAI engine. Is the KAI engine something you would be interested in the future for the Phazer?
Thanks for the reply. That large air filter sure would be nice! Do not know too much about the other improvements on the Kai. I am really considering buying a 44 phazer before there are no more but I sure would like that Donaldson type air filter. My dealer told me that he has had some problems adding them retroactively. Apparently, it has been difficult for him to get the replacement carb jets adjusted. Therefore, he will not do it anymore. Your thoughts.
As a Phazer owner, I too would like to understand the differences in design of the standard Kawasaki engine vs. the KAI engine.
KAI stands for cooler, cleaner and quieter. The 19 hp Kaw KAI has a redesigned engine shroud to direct more airflow over the engine cooling fins. They also completely redesigned the entire air cleaner assembly for reduced air ingestion.
I'm not sure I understand this. Why would the reduce the amount of air?
It should read "reduced dirt ingestion".
Thanks for the clarification. As my salesman touted the Phazer 44" as a commercial piece of equipment sized for residential use, it sure would be nice to have a little piece of mind with the commercial style air filtration system. Is this a possible retrofit or is it impossible? (Note, I have posted this same question in an earlier post but got varied answers)
How do I know if I have the KAI engine mine is A 06 34/19 HP
what is a " KAI " engine? whats the difference between that and the " KAW "
please excuse my ignorance on engines.
