I have the opportunity to buy a 1986 ford8000 with a 3208 cat and a 25ft reid trailer with air brakes for $10k. The truck has 104000 original miles and looks like a "new"1986. The trailer is n same like new condition. The owner was very particular about maintaining both the truck and trailer< both have been stored under a shelter since new. Its a combo deal and he wont seperate either piece. I can really use these in my business so i feel i cant go wrong. Especially with that price. Guys that have tandems and trailers let me know your thoughts and opinions on this "deal". :cool2:

Sounds somewhat too good to me, for those miles but then again it is 26 years old.

I was wondering about towing and the 3208 cat. Anyone have experience with this engine? Im in a pickle, i recently purchased a case 450 crawler loader and own a 12000 pnd excavator. I tow them with a intrnational 4700 and its a struggle for it. I ran across this deal and think this truck would be better suited to haul equipment with. Anybody tow with something similar?

We had a 79 l8000 with a n/a 3208 and would pull our equipment with it. The truck wasn't the fastest but got the job done what kind of tranny does the truck have?

The 13 spd is nice to me the more gears the better on a low hp truck. Was this truck a dump from the factory Or a tractor that was converted ?

3208....woof. I'd walk just because of that. Lack of power aside, they weren't the most reliable engine Cat produced by a long shot.
