Is this red thread??

    My lawn seems to have died off and become almost straw like. I think this could be red tread, but I do not see any real pink treads like on the pictures. Help.

    No, the grass is just struggling a bit due to the summer temps and little to no rain.( don't know how much rain you have had down the shore the past couple weeks.) I might bump the height a bit and try and get some water on it. Other than that, wait for the fall renovation and fix the problem then.

    Is it a ryegrass lawn?

    I have recently seen the stalks persist from the ryegrass going to seed in the spring. The stalks are rather stiff and straw colored, not flexible like grass. With time they will break down if that is what it is.
