    Hi Gents,

How do you guys deal with Islands on Commercial properties?
I have a propertythat I bid on that has 14 Islands. Cars parked there 24/7.

Build some ramps and mow with the chute closed or down. Just have to do your best on this one. I have a car lot like that, its not easy.

Good insurance and a mulch kit or OCDC.

I do a K-Mart, and use the trimmer on the 9 islands. Found it faster than anything else. Guess it depends on the sizes of them.

Use plant growth regulator. PGR's will slow the growth of the grass.

I use a trimmer if I can reach it all in one pass. I have gotten so good it looks like it was mowed. FYI- trimmers tear grass and also pulls some of the grass out by the roots so over time it thins the grass automatically. My trimmed islands can often go two weeks before cutting is required.

we actually didnt even carry any machine less than 72" after awhile through the season. As far as islands went...trimmers are the best. They are quicker and save time than hauling a 21" and bullshyting around with turning and everything else.

If youve got 2 guys, have one trimer and the other follow you around with the bp blower and youll get the cut and cleanup done asap.

    good luck
