Just picked up a new project. A 72 inch Jacobsen Turfcat front mount mower. It has a 4 cylinder 23 hp Continental engine I’ve spent the last three hours searching the web for a forum similar to this one and found nothing. Does anyone have any knowledge of these mowers or can point me in the right direction. This one idles fine but when you give it gas it floods. I’m not familiar with these engines and would like to get some advice and where to get parts. Thanks

You might be able to find info on www.jacobsenturf.com. That unit is an older unit and I know parts are getting harder to come by. What is the model number on the serial number plate?

You say "give it the gas". Is it a gas engine? Floods? Explain exactly what it's doing and why you think it floods?

When you increase the RPM the unit floods and dies out. The engine is a R08.

Right before it dies do you see any black smoke out the exhaust? Have you pulled a plug to see if it's wet? If so what color is the electrode? Does it back fire? Is the choke on? How far past idle does the problem start?

Choke is off. Idles fine. Plug is not wet when idleing. When RPM increase it dies, plug is then wet with gas.
