HELLO AND THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.
MY JOHN DEERE 212 LAWN TRACTOR STALLS OUT WHEN ENGAGING THE PTO SWITCH. THIS ONLY HAPPENS SOMETIMES.
AND WHEN IT STARTS HAPPENING IT WON'T STOP. I HAVE TO LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE I CAN OPERATE THE MOWER AGAIN. THE PLUG LOOKED LIKE THE MOWER IS RUNNING TOO RICH. I RAN IT WITH THE AIR FILTER OFF AND WATCHED THE CARB. THE THROTTLE VALVE OPENS ALL THE WAY UP AND FUEL SPITS OUT OF THE CARB....THATS ALL I HAVE???HELP

You said "PTO switch" so I take it this is an electric PTO clutch. Your problem may be electrical. To check to see if it is take the belt off the electric clutch so there is no load on the motor from the deck. Now see what happens when you switch on the PTO. If you are still having the problem with the belt off I would start checking the wiring. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry I didn't get back on sooner. The problem was the seat occupied switch...you were on the money, it was electrical...thanks again. Eric
