I have always run JD equipment, but the last couple of years switched to the 7-iron decks after I bought a 997 Z last year with the 72" 7-iron deck on it. Of course I added a 25" flex-deck to it so I cover 8'. They absolutely pool table foot tall grass. Biggest advantage is that they stay clean underneath. The baffle system must be a big part of the fact they take very little power getting rid of the grass it is mowing.

Have not been on this site for awhile, but it has alway seemed that nobody has been introduced to or has tried the JD line. What awesome mower decks they have come up with. If you have not tried the 997, do it. lol

    Thanks, Brad

I could not agree more with you to me they are overall not up to the build quality of a Kubota.

This is a pic of a 748 with the 60" 7 Iron with twin flexes - 8' swath. I have to take a pic sometime of the 997 (beast of a machine). The 7 Iron design requires so little power to get rid of grass, I have plenty left over to run double flex decks.
