a local dealer has a JD 717 zero turn with 48in deck and trac vac. The asking price is $5500, is this a good price, its a 01 or 02 with about 300-500 hours I believe. I currently have around 10-15 lawns/ week and am uping to 25 lawns next year, is this a good investment?
    Thanks
    James

Sounds a little high to me. There's quite a bit of difference in 300 and 500 hours. With 300 i'd say $5000. With 400 i'd say $4500 and with 500 i'd say $4000 at the most. That is if the unit is in good shape. If your very interested in it i'd suggest talking to the previous owner before buying it. Hope that helps.

I just picked up a NEW 717A with 1.2 hrs for $5600.00! I love the mower and would recommend it to anyone but with 500+ hr's, thats not a good deal! Just my opinion!

I'm looking at a 717 and a Gravely 148Z. How do you like the 717 so far? Was that a closeout or normal pricing?

My 717 has 429 hours on it and so far the only problem I had was the traction belt broke around 300 hours, $26 to fix. Now in the next 100 hours may go to crap but so far well pleased with mine. Has the best mulching kit I have used so far. I paid $5800 for mine brand new.

Remember its only asking price i would call a few other dealers and get a price ona new one and tell him the facts you gathered im sures they will drop the price a few hundred or so.

How much is the trac vac system run new? Factor that in also if its in good shape.
