I have a John Deere JX 85 21" mower. Is there any way to tweak up the RPM's?
are you sure the rpm's are low? i wouldn't run it more than 3800 rpm's. adjust the governor up by either bending the tang or adjusting the governor screw. you should download your manual to be sure. does it pull ok under a heavy load? maybe you have other problems than rpm's? it's probably rated for 3600 high idle.
I have purchased a total of 6 new jx75/jx85 mowers and all of them were set way below max. allowable RPM. As soon as they are out of warranty, I have the dealer turn them up to about 3600RPM. I do not do it myself, as I do not have a way to check the RPM's. Boy does it make a difference. Mower performs much better.
were you wanting to adjust the rpm's yourself? out of warranty or not they should run at the recomended rpm's.
