I am planning to have stonewall put on st augustine and burmuda at about a pound per acre. I am mainly concerned about broadleaf weeds. Most of the area are mixed grass.

Are there and downside? Any significant risk in hurting st augustine
    growth?

The temperature is ranging from 37-60F each day. Plan to put grandular fertilizer on when green up start. And will use herbicide down the line no weeds visable now.

I use Prodiamine 65wg at 1lb acre and have never had any bad effects.
I will say this is way better for grassy weeds though. If your mainly wanting something for broadleaf weeds a Gallery type pre m would be way better and is reel safe on warm season grasses

I only like to discuss products I have used and not just sold. I will say I sold allot to golf. I think their main targets were grassy weeds. Maby a golf guy can answer better. If broadleaf is your main concern. Use good old pre-m Pendimethalin or the aquacap version.

I have used tons of Stonewall 0-0-8. Is this the one you are refering too? It has a nice small prill and works fine.

JD's Stonewalls AI is Prodiamine so that is why I said I still use Prodiamine 65WG at 1lb per acre rate with no ill effects on St Agustine or Bermuda.

Pretty sure you are not going to accomplish your objective. If I'm not mistaken, stonewall is for grassy weed PreM...

Gallery is a superior preemergent for broadleaf weeds in warm season turf. No root pruning either. I have tank mixed Gallery with a medium rate of Dimension for broad spectrum protection against weed emergence. High rates of grassy weed preemergents with the intent of going after broadleaves has not worked out well for me.

Well it looks like it has prodiamine? And it certainly advertises that
    It will get broadleaf weeds.

And do you have evidence to believe that stonewall ie. prodiamine does prune roots of both st augustine and bermuda?

Looping in St Augustine and stolons of bermuda floating on the ground not rooted in. I do not get that same effect when applying the max 1.33 lb rate of Gallery DF.
