I just bought a XT140. I liked the features, but after 20 minutes of weed eating a ditch I got my arm down on the metal case and it was hot enough to make me jump. I never have had this happen with the Stihl, Echo, or Kawasaki that I have run. They have plastic cases. It did not blister me, but I jerked every time I got my arm anywhere on the case. Is this normal? My dealer has a 30 day money back guarantee. I thought about taking it back and going back to a Stihl, but I am not sure about the 4 mix engines. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Surely I am not the first to have this problem.

I need to clarify. The JD has plastic on the top of the case but metal around the top of the shaft. That is where my forearm contacts the metal.

    Thanks for any input.

Yea that case area gets hot as sh-t. It's the clutch housing. That trimmer was great, for a year, then went all to crap. (conveniently right after the warranty went out)
