I know many of you probably do this but I had an idea. Most people target middle class and high income residentials for mowing and stay away from the smaller guys because most of them do their own mowing. Well my point is we as contractors should target the middle class and lower guys that maintain their own yards but either don't do any fertilization or get Chemlawn to do it. Most of these people don't think to do it or don't do it correctly. What I am thinking is directly marketing these people with a specific flyer that mentions our fertilization program, the advantages, and how we tailor it their specific lawn needs. This is exactly what Chemlawn does but most of the time, in my area anyway, people don't go after these areas. I figure I could target these people specifically with about 1,000 flyers at a 2% response rate and have 40 customers of which I do nothing but fertilize. In and out four times a year all in a relatively close area. In addition, I can put a few of my others services briefly at the bottom of the flyer. Hey, its cheap to do and can't hurt. I'll try three different flyers and see which has the best response. Any comments or response would be great.
TIA
----------
Integrated Landscape Solutions
Lexington, KY
  2. I have quite a few customers who mow thier own turf. I provide a spring and fall core
aeration /dethatching, a five step lawn and
one tree application.
You can't maintain quality blue grass without
regular dethatching.
