what is a more profitable business- irrigation installs, landscaping or fertilizer application? I was going to include lawn care but i'm pretty sure that can't compare. any input would be helpful.

If you're not already an above-average irrigator, you're not going to make good money installing in Michigan unless you have a WICKED crew of Mexis, or leave a legacy of hopeless systems.

What is more profitable is really relative. If you have 40 well managed mowing crews you are more profitable than three designers charging $200 an hour.

Is the five star restaurant more profitable than Mickey D's?

It depends on how many people you can train and manage to do the task, how much of a market there is for your service, how well you can control costs to be as competitive as necessary, and how well you can sell.

    fast food vs. five star
    volume vs. price
skilled work vs. lower skilled work

They all work for different companies.
