Today i get a call from a guy in west va. He wanted a est for a 2nd home he just bought in a new community called Stoney Brook, thats being built. 5% finished homes, 85% still being built, and 5% empty lots. so i told him my price after i went and looked at it. its all 55'x100' property's with mostly house on it. so he's sending out a check to me for the full amount to cover up to jan 2 :D payup . He also wants me to handle subbing out a concrete curbing for the planting bed's. so now that i have one client in there i may get more of them in there. Now on the sub job whats better? to bill the client myself, or have the curbing man bill him?

ps the curb man wants to talk to me about one of his clients that needs lawns service also. payup payup

For curbing? I have no idea but if I sub something out I usually mark up only about (depending how much the entire bill is) about 10-15% I figure that covers my time.

I don't profit on subbing myself, I refer the work to them and let THEM work it out. That way my tail is out of the sling if something goes south.

I do both. Subs that I do the billing on, I mark up 10% (on avg). If the sub bills, then he pays me a %.
