    Way to go Jacob.Thats a direction i am starting to hit hard with my business too as i try to expand. Feedback so far has been excellent. Keep us updated.

    Thanks Sean. I'm tired of fighting with the "lawn boys". I want to put my knowledge and skills to work that will benefit our communities and protect/restore our land.

    There's alway competition in anything you do. But I know it's just dealing with LOW BALLERS.

    I think if you can get into a specialty/niche environment you can cut out a lot of low ballers. But as it was said, they will always be there, the thing about specialty work is that they may be adverting licenses, fees, taxes, whatever. It's tough being legit....

    Ive been doing a lot of research on the sandbag market. it seems ive been over looking a very large market area. The Pipeline and Heavy Construction area is a major user of sandbags year round.
    Im in the process of having a tri-fold brochure designed, also have my cousin working on designing a website.

    I was also contacted by the manufacturer of the my sand bag attachment about doing demonstrations for them. they would fly their clients/perspective buyers down to Louisiana and we would do a demonstration of the Sandbagging attachment for them. I just need to work up a price for the demonstrations that benefits us both.

    How about a free attachment every year or other year? Use it for the demos and also be able to have the newest one out there. Then be able to sell it, or just keep using it to make money with it.

    Well looks like we have our first big project. They are getting ready to start a 15mile long River Levee restoration/repair project.

    One of the companies bidding on parts of the project was given our info by the local Govt. I got a quick rundown over the phone of what they want from us. They need to build backup levees using small and large sandbags covered in protective urethane woven sheets. Some will be in sections of 25k square yards at a time others down to 6k to 300 sqyds. I'm waiting for an email on the specifics. We may just supply the bags and strategic placement of them. Or be a sub for some of the construction.

    That's exactly why we've broken the landscaping company into 3 different distinctive companies. the landscape market it too saturated, we have a good customer base now and will expand it slowly, but the tree service and dumpster company are in much smaller markets on their own then when they were incorporated into 1 company. its amazing how much has changed since we did that.

    just breaking the tree service out we went from about 10K a month in tree work when it was under the landscaping name to 25K a month with no advertising just word of mouth now that the tree service is into a specialized market. plus we are getting to put knowledge and equipment to more use and for better purposes.

    totally worth doing a second company or third in a specialized market. you'll always have landscaping but if KFW is doing good then you'll never have worry about loosing customers to low bids and shotty companies. the work is in specialized markets.

    I agree with finding a niche and going after it. It's been a slow process but the new company is slowly starting to get name recognition. I've got a few things in the working to get the name out infront the public & companies.

    I've gotten two really good responses/feedback from a few large construction companies.
