Anyone other than me ever notice how incredibly similar a Katsura Tree and an Aspen are to one another? I never really knew a lot about Katsura trees before a year ago. I have a very nice specimen in my front yard that everyone (including me) always thought was an Aspen. I even had other landscapers and landscape designers over at my house saying what a nice Aspen I had. I always assumed it was an aspen too. Then one day I hired a designer full time. And he pointed out to me that it was a Katsura. I did some research and he was correct. But dang! They are very very similar. It's difficult to tell the difference. How can two trees that are of a totally different species and probably native to different areas look so incredibly similar?
