How do you adjust both low idle RPM's and high idle RPM's on the 25hp air cooled Kaw? Sitting in my garage mine reads 2400+ at idle and 3500 at wide-open-throttle. The manual says 1500 idle and 3750 WOT. It's a 2004 model 74245.

    Ok, thanks for the help.

I got it adjusted. It really was simple. Almost too simple. For those of you who are looking for how to do this:

For the low idle RPM adjustment, there is an adjustment screw on the front right side of the carb.

For the high WOT RPM adjustment, loosen the whole bracket that your throttle and choke cables attach too(there are two bolts) and slide the bracket toward the engine for increased RPM's or away from the engine for decreased RPM's.

    Simple as that.

What are you using to read the engine rpm?

    Thanks,

I use an infrared tach. I just put a piece of reflective tape on the fan shroud(near the hydro pump belt) and it picks up each rotation to give me my RPM reading.

If you install a Tiny-Tach, you can monitor RPM's while mowing. It allows you to spot engine issues earlier as well.

Thanks for pointing this Tiny Tach out. Sound like just what I need. Which model would be correct for a Kawasaki 25 hp twin on my Toro 74245?

This one will work just fine; TT226NR-2C Standard Model
I keep this one in my tool box for checking both single and twins.

    Restrorob,

Thanks for the tach info. I purchased the 2C model and have installed it. Seems to be working great. Here's a photo of the installed product...

    TLS,

Thanks for the kind words on my install. Every once in a while these old hands can still get the job done.
