kaw 26 or 37 hp??

Discussion in 'Lawn Mowing' started by cabo91, Jun 13, 2009.

  1. Hi, Im looking at a new bobcat predator pro. the engine options are the 26 liquid cooled or the 37 air cooled. Does anyone have and info or experiences with either engine? Im concerned about fuel consumption etc. I have the 23 kaw now on my bobcat and get just over a gallon per hour

What size deck are you looking at? I used to have the 26 LC Kawasaki on my 60" and 66" SuperZ and it was very nice and smooth. I heard lately they've changed it a little to meet emission standards and that hurt power some. But I'm not exactly sure there.

I will say this, though. I now have 31hp Kawasaki and a 27hp Kawasaki air-cooled engines. I try to stay 1:2 on my hp/deck-width ratio and love it. That 31hp on a 60" deck and the 27hp on a 52" deck will cut through anything without even breathing hard.

See if the dealer will let you demo them, especially the 26 LC.:)

I had a 26 L/C Kawasaki on a 3100 Ferris and it was a dog.had to give it choke to engage the blades.Customer service at Ferris said it was not suppose to be sold with a bagger.Engine was leaned out for emissions.I had to go to the 32HP Briggs to overcome the problem.Ferris took it back no questions asked.
