hey guys, got a lazer z hp with a 17hp kawasaki (950 hrs) mowing this morn and the engine starting sounding like a can of rocks back there, like there was something in the engine making a loud rattling noise. any idea to what is going on ?

Yikes...that doesn't sound good! Best to shut it down and not use it until it can be diagnosed or risk serious damage. Does it sound internal or could it be a loose/cracked/broken muffler or heat shield?

Does it make the noise only when the pto is engaged? Or does it make the noise white under no load? Theres a few things it could be. If it has oil and the engine is running ok its likely its the pto clutch.

Model and serial numbers of the engine and mower are helpful

This might sound crazy, but it could just be the baffles in the exhaust muffler burnt out.
