The engine goes from idle to major rev with a touch of the throttle. Does this sound like the governor? There is a small spring that was broken off the back of the throttle face plate that was binding up the throttle cable. Any thoughts?

    Is this a trick question ? Check your model number again......Maybe a FC420V or a FB460V ?

Sounds like you need to replace the broken spring then check the governor adjustment, Can't post the proper adjustment procedure without the proper model number.
