Kawasaki FB460V engine (very loud) whine at startup, after engine warms up , the whine goes away. More pronounced when unit is not run for awhile. Engine is on John Deere 165 Lawn Tractor. Could this be a bearing noise?? Fluids levels are good...
    Thanks for the help..

First I would seperate the clutch and drive belt from the engine to make sure the noise is not traveling up into the engine, and if it still did it i would say that it is proberlly a bearing ,the 460 v in some cases would tend to throw the balancer through the block but i cannot remember if it wined first, also you might use a piece of wood and place it as close to the bearings as possible to figure out where the noise is most pronounced

Thanks for responding!! Since the first posting, I tried to locate the whine, it seemed to come from the lower half of the Mower. I then thought the belt could be slipping until it warmed up. I then purchased some Belt Dressing, applied some, and the Whine has gone away. Thanks again.
