My 25HP Kawasaki is a beast compared to my 25HP Kohler. The Kohler's not bad but the Kawasaki is pretty darn good.

ok, ok, all opinionated responses aside, I'll list you the comparisons of the Kawi and the Kohler.

    25HP Kohler Specs:

    MODEL Command CH730
    MAX. POWER @ 3600 RPM hp (kW) 25 (18.64)
DISPLACEMENT cu. in. (cc) 44.0 (725)
    BORE in. (mm) 3.27 (83)
    STROKE in. (mm) 2.64 (67)
    PEAK TORQUE @ MAXIMUM lbs. ft. (Nm) 39.9 (54.1) @ 2800 RPM
DRY WEIGHT lbs. (kg) 94 (43)
    OIL CAPACITY U.S. quarts (liters) 2.0 (1.9)
    LUBRICATION Full pressure w/full-flow filter
    DIMENSIONS L x W x H in. 13.8 x 17.7 x 19.0

    28HP Kawasaki Specs:

    MAX. POWER 28.0 (20.9 kW) @ 3600 RPM
DISPLACEMENT cu. in. (cc) 46.6 (764)
    BORE in. (mm) 3.15 (80)
    STROKE in. (mm) 2.99 (76)
    PEAK TORQUE 47.6 ft. lbs. (64.5 N*m) @ 2200 RPM
DRY WEIGHT lbs. (kg) 98.1 (44.5)
    OIL CAPACITY U.S. quarts (liters) 1.7 (1.6)
    LUBRICATION Full pressure w/full-flow filter

Of the 2 engines you asked about compared:

    Cooling Method:

    GPH (Gallons per Hour)

I didn't catch any number reports from either engine, but I think it's safe to assume the Kohler will be at least more gas efficient.

This paricular Kaw hasn't been out nearly long enough for anyone to share any experience on the time of significant wear.

After a little research, the a fellow lawnsite member had put 1600 Hours on his kohler and had to replace the entire engine. Search "CH730".

At this point i really don't feel like doing any more research. All i can say is take full advantage of the Search Feature on this website and most of your questions can be answered with a little time and effort without having to be spoonfed on every inquiry of yours.

But in a nutshell, doing the little bit of Research I did, the Kohler and Kawasaki both have their highs and lows...also for the record, kawasaki can have numerous problems with their engines and so can Kohler, which is why I suggest you find out which engine brand gets the best dealer support.

The last paragraph I typed was based on this link:

    knock yourself out.
