I have KBG sodded lawn that is about 4 years old. I live in NJ, weather can be crazy...I was measure from ground to blade and leaving that at 3", I think my grass doesnt like this and it stresses it...looks much better when I leave it a little longer...what do others cut theirs to or suggest for mine?

One other question, I have some compacted/sandy spots that dry out before the rest of the sprinkler zone does and I have to water it by hand as not to overwater the other spots...besides aerating in the fall is there anything that I can do such as use a spreader and put down some topsoil as a top dress on it now?

3 1/4 is my minimum for KBG up to 3 3/4 on some properties.

Topdressing with a good dose of compost on those sandy areas will help a lot... It doesn't happen overnite so you'll be building a soil that holds moisture over time... Here is another area in which soil structure should be observed... :)
