I was wondering if $1000 is a good price for a Kees 48"wb with a 12.5 Kawasaki motor. It has 848 hrs on it. It is pretty decent shape, already tune up and ready to go for the season..

    DON'T GO NEAR IT!

    12.5 h.p. is hardly enough for a 48"

    I have a 14h.p. 48" hydro and wish I had a 22 h.p.

I owned that mower. Cutting in the spring was a challenge. The rest of the season it was fine. 12.5 is a little under powered. $1000 is high on the price. Offer the guy $500, then buy a new 14hp Kaw and put on the mower.

Think it would be a good mower to start out with?

It's a start. Offer him 500. That is alot of hours on an engine.
