Well, I got a call for an estimate, and the man on the phone says his lawn has brown spots, can I come out and give an estimate for installing new sod. Sure, I go out there. When I get there, it looks like someone was designing a racecourse all over this guys lawn, and I look at the boy standing there, and ask him "Did you get a hold of the fertilizer spreader?" He just starts laughing.... Anyways, this brings me to my question. I need to bid on ripping out (or killing and tilling) 5500 square feet of sod. This will be my first job of this size, and wanted to get some helpful input on this. I figure my costs will involve: sod cutter rental $100 disposal cost (figured in $300) sod $900 labor With the backyard being the largest area, and too small of a walkway to set the pallets back there, there will be alot of extra barrowing of the rolls. I estimate there to be a lot of work on the prep side as well, being as though it just got hit with some heavy fertilizer. I'd appreciate any help/advice/comments on this bid, as I'd like to set it up for the next few weeks. I came out with approximately $2600 as a first ballpark figure, let me know if I'm way off, or in the area. This is KBG by the way Thanks for all the help everyone, the boys sure could use some new shoes!
